We have been busy working on a lot of different things in class. Last week, the kids got into groups and made up two step word problems and acted them out. The groups recorded themselves and I showed them to the class. All of the kids watched and solved each group's problem. We had a test on Friday and the kids did a great job. I sent the tests home in the Friday folder. We are beginning a new unit on addition with regrouping this week. We will spend a lot of time working on this concept so don't worry if your child is a little confused at first. Keep working on math facts at home. I have them do Xtra math at school four days a week. Most of them are not too fond of it but I am able to track their progress (and catch them when they try to skip it!) and they have all improved so much since we started. No pain, no gain! We are also going over different strategies to help with learning facts.
We have been learning about verbs in language arts. We will be making a video as part of the lesson. I told them they are allowed to bring props for the video this Friday. They will be able to tell you what they need. I'll send you a reminder on Thursday. You will get to see the finished video at the holiday party in December.
We will only have school on Monday and Tuesday of next week due to Thanksgiving. Please let me know if your child is going to be out on one of those days.
